Let Go and Go For It

Let’s face it, for a lot of us letting go and de-cluttering our lives can be a difficult task. We become comfortable in our habits whether they are good for us or not.  When we get comfortable in where we are at, our 'where I want to be' becomes lost in the background. 

 

What we want will always be what we ‘want’ until we get moving to attain it.  So, what do you want for yourself?  Do you want what you’ve always had or do you want something better for yourself? That feeling of wanting bigger and better for ourselves isn’t just going to go away.

 

We need to choose to take our first steps now; today.  We can’t worry about what tomorrow brings.  There will always be a tomorrow and a distraction of some kind to keep us from achieving what we want.  It’s what you do today for yourself that will dictate your future.

 

If you fall off your healthy habit whether it’s an eating plan, workout routine, meditation, a budget, etc. just learn to hit the reset button. Reconnect to your WHY and commit to yourself.  Make yourself a priority by taking that first step towards your goal. Even if it's as little as throwing out all the processed food in your pantry, turning off your device 30 minutes earlier to fit something in that benefits you instead, or telling yourself you don't work past 5pm on Wenesday's.

 

It’s time to let go of what's holding you back.  There are many reasons why we are held back.  Here is a list of some of the more common reasons I've found.

 

1.     Fear

Fear rules all. Fear keeps us from partaking in new experiences, and developing new habits.  Why? Because we are afraid of failure.  We are afraid of not knowing the future or maybe looking bad in front of others.  Failure is a teacher of sorts.  Without it we wouldn’t be able to better ourselves.  Fear is a huge distraction and once we overcome it and let it go we are able to do what we want without holding back.

 

2.     Distractions

Our lives are so cluttered; filled with things we think we must have. As a society, we are constantly checking social media, email, and news on our phones it’s surprising we accomplish anything.

If you want more time to spend on your priorities, let go of the distractions. For instance, we may only spend a couple of minutes looking at our email each time, but it all adds up and keeps us from the task at hand. Let it go.

 

3.     Busy doing Nothing

If you are spending time on things that don’t lead to tangible results you could be doing something else more beneficial.  Myself, I’ve spent a lot of time researching, fine-tuning my website, reading articles for more information. When I step back I realize that a huge chunk of time has gone by where I’ve sat at my desk being very busy at doing nothing. Step back. If you’re not getting results from your actions do something else.

 

4.     The Right Time

You keep putting something off because it’s not the ‘right’ time. You feel you need more experience, more skills, you need to make more improvements.  You wait for your financial situation to improve, the weather to clear up or for some kind of sign that tells you to start. Start moving forward today with what you have.  Take steps no matter how small and insignificant they seem.

 

5.     No Action

You don’t take action. You make lists, schedules, and great layouts and plans. You create beautiful material to use.  You re-write and improve your layouts. You visualize, discuss and even critique your plans. One thing is missing.  Your action. Taking action will be much more beneficial than all the planning and creating you do. If you want to success. Start with action.
